Torchlight

Just a quick note, I will soon be updating my impressions of Dark Souls and The Witcher based on my previous posts.

But for now, I have begun playing Torchlight. Torchlight is a indie action RPG game, very similar to the Diablo games.

When I was younger I used to absorb so many hours into Diablo II, I loved the fast paced action and the RPG elements of the game. Torchlight at the moment is more of the same. Its not as if they just stole from Diablo, the developers are open about the fact that they love the Diablo games and that they were inspired by them.

When you start the game you choose your class, pet and difficulty. I chose an alchemist as my character. The alchemist is similar to a mage, I get a variety of spells and I get to summon minions based on which skill trees I progress down. As far as I can tell in regards to the pets, there is no difference between them aside from appearance. Then for difficulty I opted for hard mode. I enjoy a challenge, but hardcore sounded a bit to much for my playthrough as in hardcore mode, when you die, you die permanently….eep!

At the moment, the story seems to be lacking. However this is a dungeon crawling game, and you can quite easily become engrossed in the bowels of Torchlight, and that, at the moment for me is an unusual feeling. I struggle to become really engrossed by a game recently. I do enjoy many of the games that are released, but many of them fail to truly engross me. The graphics and music of Torchlight are spot on and the gameplay is fun. It is a shame that it lacks a multiplayer component however Torchlight II is due to have a multiplayer mode.

Below I have attached some starting footage of me playing the game, I should also be adding more to my channel so subscribe :)
