I decided to revisit my Stargate model that I built pretty recently which can be found by clicking here. I was happy with my original gate but I knew I was missing so many little details on the gate, and some of the details and proportions were not quite right. However I didn’t want to just reuse the old gate with a few improvements, so I decided to make it a Stargate Atlantis gate instead. The gates are almost identical in design as far as I can tell from looking at them in the shows. The major differences are the way the gate operates, the symbols and the colours. This means it would be easy for me to make this into a SG1 gate as opposed to a Atlantis one. Below are some more images of the gate; including the back of the gate, which I had not previously modelled.

Hey Liam,
Some fantastic fan art there!
I have an idea, which would be awesome to see.
Right, i have always wondered about how the ancients made these gates, and how they would store them. I think you should make an addition that would have the warehouse/Stargate workshop/ production line. Have a few still renders of this, would look pretty cool.
Perhaps as well you see in the background ancients hammering away, working hard on them.
Just an idea, that is if you understand what im saying :).
Thanks,
Steve.

Hey Steve,
No one knows how the original gates were built. The original gates are the gates in Stargate Universe since they are the oldest and first built. The ones in SG1 came next and again no one knows how they were built. Maybe machine carved? They would not have been hand built since the material used doesn’t exist on Earth and is strong enough to survive Nukes bigger then what we actually have. The gates in Atlantis (this one) were built using a sort of replication technology that can replicate anything that already exists. So in terms of a production warehouse I doubt one ever existed.
In fact I would wager that even the original gates in Universe were built using a replication technology since they are essentially seeding the universe. This must mean that the small seeder ships contain the technology needed. I could build one of the replicators since they are found in the last episode of SG1, however I doubt it would make an interesting build. No factory or anything, warehouse or people needed to make a stargate.
Cheers though :D

Hey Liam
I was thinking purely for a ‘what if’ situation.
I mean could you imagine a load of boxes saying ‘Gates- pack of 10′ in a polystyrene packaging. and ‘this way up’ and ‘dont place near any high surges’.
Humour, yet inspirational, if you get me?
Cheers,
Steve
